This huge fish was NOT KILLED but now swims safely in the Aksarban Aquarium exhibit at Shram Park, Louisville, Nb. Birdygirl's cousins, Donna & Cliff Ferguson, caught this giant 95 lb. blue catfish in the Nishnabatna River in Iowa about 1998. It is the largest blue catfish on record to be caught with a bank (throw) line. |
Here are two snapshots of the fish swimming in it's aquarium in Nebraska. It is a female and dines on 12 inch trout that are fresh killed for her. She is approximately 30 to 35 yeas old, for a catfish that is extremely old. Translated to human years this fish would be over 100 years old. She is in excellent heath and could live several more years. Photographed by a Museum employee November 2000. |

Picture from cousins John & Irene Palmer. Can't remember if they said this was a hamster or guinea pig. |
