Amariah K. Henderson was the son of Elizabeth Wilson & John HENDERSON, Sr. who settled in Jefferson County, Missouri circa 1802.   Amariah was born 16 March 1812 in either Missouri or the state of Louisana.  He married Amanda TENNISON in Washington County, Missouri 7 July 1837. They resided northwest of Belgrade. Amanda was supposed to be a relative of President John ADAMS.  Amariah died in 1894 and is buried in Jane Bryan Cemetery.  Amariah's tombstone is pictured at left.

Amariah and Amanda became the parents of six children:

Permelia born 13 October 1840 who married Judge Allen Montgomery GOFORTH. Permelia died 7 May 1921 & is buried in Thomas Chapel Cemetery

Preston B. who was born 1845 & died in 1846

Haney born 1852

Lucy J. born 1856 & died 1860

Mary who was born 1859
