Rev. George Washington Henderson By: Esther M. Ziock Carroll |
1840 - My great, great grandfather was Rev. George Washington Henderson. He was born in St. Francois County, Missouri on February 14. His parents who were also cousins were Mary Ann Henderson and John Henderson, Jr. & siblings: James Monroe, Elizabeth & Almeda. 1847 - George's father, John Henderson, Jr., dies but before he died he purchased the property adjoining with that of his father-in-law and put it in the names of his children: George W., James M., and Elizabeth. This indicates that John died before the birth of his fourth child, Almeda. John Henderson purchased this property from Susan & William Allen 28 July 1847: SE1/4 of NW1/4 SEC9 T34N R5E 40 acres. This is in Pendleton T. However there is a mystery as there was also a Land Patent that says that this same property was patented to Thomas C. Allen 1 March 1848.
