Caledonia Wine Cottage

The Caledonia Wine Cottage at 128 S. State Hwy. 21, Caledonia, Missouri is listed National Register of Historic Places - Caledonia Historic District.  It was built in 1824 & was originally a stage stop inn. It had separate quarters for slaves & was used as field hospital during the Civil War after "The Battle of Pilot Knob" in adjoining Iron County.  For additional history click here.

Since it's renovation began in 2006 it has produced numerous paranormal occurrences.  K.O.P.S. did an investigation 29 Nov. 2008.  Below are the results of that investigation:

GREEN FLICKERING LIGHT:

When the men of KOPS were conducting an EVP session in the kitchen someone noticed that the small green light on the chest freezer was flickering frantically & thought that maybe a spirit was trying to communicate by way of the light.  When questions were asked of the light it responded by flashing once for yes & twice for no.  However when one of the women of the group, Esther Carroll, entered the kitchen the light went off & refused to communicate further.  The question was then asked about the light not wanting to communicate because one of the women was in the room.  It still didn't respond.  Then when Esther announced she was leaving the room & stepped out of the kitchen the light immediately came back on & stayed steadily on but refused to respond to anymore questions.

EVP:

During a lone EVP session by Esther Carroll in the dining room of The Cottage whispers can be heard on the recording but it is unclear what is being said. These whispers could not be heard during the session but are on the voice recorder when played back.  Also there was one whisper that was barely audible & it says, "Don't go" about 3 or 4 seconds before the assistant manager  loudly says, "Bye Bye!" to those investigators in the kitchen as she leaves for the evening. About 50 seconds later Esther felt a gentle, cool draft on her right side & face which lasted several seconds. There was an entrance foyer, another room, & a hallway between the dining room & kitchen.
