Ida Martin Cooper Family History
Ida Belle Martin was the daughter of Margie
Frances Dicus & James Marion Martin. She was born
11 June 1892. In 1912 she married James Cooper a barber. They had six children one
of whom died as a child. Mr. Cooper was once sheriff of Washington County. Ida
died in St. Charles County in 1988 at the age of 96 years and is buried in New Masonic
Cemetery, Potosi.

I didn't meet "Aunt Idie" until in the 1970's
when I tracked her down living in St. Charles with her daughter, Marie Bersche. I
took my grandmother, Berdie Henderson Martin & my aunt, Cora Martin Zimmermann, with
me for a visit. And visited "Aunt Idie" many times after that here in
Potosi. She was a very sweet and loving person and I have many fond memories of
her(Esther M. Ziock Carroll).
