Betty
Jane Lockwood Pollard & her cousin
Glenda Alexander Rogers, both from
Oklahoma, visited Caledonia Thursday 27
October 2011. They met with Washington
County genealogist/historian Esther
Ziock Carroll at the Old Village
Mercantile. Betty & Esther had been
corresponding by way of email & Facebook
for several months. |

After having a delicious
lunch at the Caledonia Bar-B-Q Company Esther took Betty &
Glenda out to the Bellevue Cemetery to search for the graves
of their ancestors. They are researching the surnames of
Alexander & Green & may possibly be related to Esther
Carroll as she also has those surnames in her ancestry.
After leaving the cemetery they came back to Caledonia to
see the historic Presbyterian Church & other old homes in
the area. Mrs. Civey invited them into her home which was
built in 1816 by Alexander Craighead. After a tour of the
home & that area of Caledonia Betty, Glenda & Esther came
back to Potosi & then went to Esther's house to check out
her research materials. Everyone had a great time & wish to
extend their appreciation to the people they met & spoke to
in Caledonia for their gracious hospitality.
Betty & Glenda stayed overnight in Potosi & visited the
Washington County Library the next day before heading back
to Oklahoma.
