HARNEY HOUSE
332 South Mansion St. ~ Sullivan, Crawford County, Missouri

The Harney Mansion was built by Dr. A. Leffingwell in 1856 then sometime prior to 1872 General William Selby Harney bought it & there was an addition added by him in that year.  It was used for his summer home until 1884.

In 1896 Theodore Hinchcliff purchased the beautiful home.   It stayed in that family some time until his daughter Lucy Hinchcliff Riggans sold it to Leo Hollander who then gave it to the Historical Society in the 1980's.  It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 then that historical society disbanded and it went to the city of Sullivan.  Then in 1998 the Friends of the Mansion started and it was given to them.
