Ad in book: WHERE TO GO IN THE OZARKS (1931) ~ Woodlock's, Crawford, Co., Mo. - Located on Huzzah Creek, 20 miles southeast of Steelville. P.O., Davisville. Take State Highway 19, to Davisville. Hotel with electric lights, showers, baths, indoor toilets. Rates (American) $3.00 per day, $15.00 per week. Children under 10, half price. Cottages may be had equipped for cooking, or meals may be taken in the hotel. Cottages: one room $1.00 per day, two rooms $1.50 per day, three rooms, $2.00 per day or $10.00 per week. Camp grounds free. Back in the hills away from town or railroad. Hunting, fishing, tennis, bathing, dancing, horseback riding. Good fall hunting frounds. In center of wild turkey region. Plenty of quail, squirrel & rabbits. This is a pioneer resort of the Ozarks. Open all year. |

The Lodge was built by Eugene Woodlock in 1938. REA Electricity did not get to this area until 1948. This water wheel powered a long shaft in side the metal building which drove a D.C. generator furnishing electricity for the Lodge. Also, woodworking tools - saw, band saw, planer, drills, etc.
