Forest Park, the largest tract set aside for public use in St. Louis, contains 1,381 acres.  It provides a playground for virtually the entire city, and in it are located the zoo, rated as the best in the world, and the St. Louis Art Museum, ranking among the four leading museums in the United States.

The Big Bird Cage at St. Louis Zoo circa 1952.  It was built in 1904 for the St. Louis World's Fair & is still in use today.
