WASHINGTON COUNTY MISSOURI TORNADO
8 APRIL 2015

This tornado was classified as an F1 with winds up to 90 miles per hour.
It left a path 50 yards wide & five miles long beginning on the west edge of Potosi & traveling to the east side.

This is the second tree the Sheriff's Department has lost to a tornado.
The other one was in 2006 & it squashed a patrol car when it fell.

 luckily only one employee was there at the time & he survived with no injuries

calls were coming in back to back faster than I could take notes so please excuse mistakes. Got some information from Channel 4 news when they interviewed Chris Richards from the Independent Journal

Storm tried to suck the air out of the IJ office as they tried to close & lock doors

Hwy. 21 flooded near Old Mines

Hwy E bridge possibly gone

Power lines on fire across from fair grounds

Water rescue in Springtown – Harbison trail – all people & animals out of house safely

Water rescue – Dart Rd. & Hwy 21 – across from Brown’s store – can no longer see truck – may not have made it across – trooper enroute w/boat – not needed – man escaped safely

Radio Station Rd. bridge flooded – unable to determine if bridge is still there

Mayo & Mineral Rd. – security alarm

Creek impassable behind Anthonies Mill

Water rescue – Lizzy Ln. – trailer surrounded by water

EMS call

Funeral home – front off

Springtown – residence destroyed – man saw tornado on the ground

Civil defense channel is down until further notice

Boat capsized & fire fighter caught in tree – all fire fighters are accounted for but are stuck in tree - one fire fighter has been rescued - two fire fighters have been rescued - one still in tree - all fire fighters have been rescued

Three other fire fighters were capsized on F Hwy.  Two made it to safety & the other was safely rescued.

power outage map shows 3,032 with no electricity out of 10, 345 served
