Lillian Cecile Ziock Palmer

The background music on this page, The Beer Barrel Polka, is dedicated to my aunt Lillian Ziock Palmer.  She loved the polka & even into her 70's she could still out dance everyone on the dance floor! 

Lil Ziock was born 31 Dec. 1900 & was the daughter of Esther Horrocks & August Ziock, Jr.  When her mother died when she was 13 years old she went to live with her best friend Alvena Langbein & they grew up together.  Lil was married to EDWARD PALMER & they became the parents of six children.  Lil and Ed later resided in Jefferson County, Missouri on a road they named Palmer Lane. Lil died in 1979 at age 78 and is buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.

Alvena Langbein, Gussie Ziock, Lillian Ziock.  This picture was taken between 1910 & 1912 in the Ziock's back yard in the 3400 block of Missouri Ave., St. Louis. Alvena was Lillian's best friend.  After Lily & Guses mother died Lil went to live with Alvena & her family & Gus went to live with his grandparents.

This is the house in Imperial, Jefferson County, Missouri that my aunt Lillian Ziock Palmer lived in for many years on Palmer Lane on west side of Hwy. 67.  I always loved this big, beautiful house & wish I could have visited more often.  I remember at Christmas time there was always a beautiful Christmas tree in the alcove off of the living room.
